The line is designed for the triple-extrusion of MV/HV cable up to 45 kV and 63 kV. The line supports both rubber and XLPE material. The vulcanization tube is equipped for both steam/supersteam (rubber) and nitrogen (XLPE) vulcanization, water or dry cooling. The three layers co-extrusion is performed through the triple-layer crosshead. The extrusion group is composed by the water- thermoregulated extruders TG.80 (inner layer), TG.160 (insulation) and TG.100 (outer layer). The higher voltage lines benefit from the introduction of rotating caterpillars.
The layers thickness, diameter and concentricity control is extremely important for the final cable performances. The gravimetric dosing system and the x-ray measurement device together with linear output extruders guarantee a constant insulation thickness and product quality even during ramp-up and ramp-down.
